A new external automated defibrillator has been made available by Patrick McCaffrey & Sons at their quarry in Ballymagroarty, Ballintra.  The defibrillator is ideally located at the entrance of the quarry and is available for use by employees, customers and the local community.

This defibrillator was unveiled recently as part of National Quarry Safety Week, organised by the Health & Safety Authority and the Irish Concrete Federation.

A large number of people attended the event including representatives from the National Ambulance Service, Donegal Fire Service, Donegal County Council, the Health & Safety Authority, the Irish Concrete Federation, quarry management and staff and members of the local community.

Conal Gallagher, Health & Safety Manager with McCaffrey’s Quarry informed the gathering that training is being delivered on how to use of this life saving device and reiterated that the defibrillator is available for use by not only the quarry’s staff and customers but the wider community.
